Community-Based Learning

Community is a major component of the Big Picture model. We believe that the best learning happens when students are actively engaged in the local and global community.

Big Picture students in the 101 advisory participate in CBL, or Community-Based Learning. The purpose of CBL is to help students build the skills and experience necessary to be successful in an internship or job through networking with local professionals.

BCA

CBL consists of a series of day-long group trips to work with local businesses and organizations, student-conducted interviews of professionals in a field of interest, resume building workshops, and shadow days at potential internship sites. When a student demonstrates that they are prepared to move into independent community based learning, they are able to take on a full, 2-day/week internship.
