Graduation Requirements

exhibitions

The Vermont Transferable Skills, developed by the Agency of Education, describe the complex skills students need in order to thrive as adults in the 21st century.  As South Burlington High School has adopted the Transferable Skills as their Student Learning Expectations, Big Picture also uses them as its graduation requirements.

In order to graduate, students must demonstrate that they are proficient in the following areas:

  • Clear and Effective Communication
  • Self Direction
  • Creative and Practical Problem Solving
  • Responsible and Involved Citizenship
  • Informed and Integrative Thinking

Assessment:

The primary means of Assessment in Big Picture is through Exhibitions- explaining your learning, and Digital Portfolios- evidence of your learning.  At the culmination of their senior year, Big Picture students defend their portfolio,  to demonstrate they are proficient in each of the 5 Transferable Skills.
